Dec. 26th, 2016 12:38 pmCole is a young demon who has recently come into adulthood, and is trying to maintain his little piece of home in a hostile environment. As the alpha of his small clan, he must be sure of himself, assertive, observant, and show good judgment. He has had to learn to make decision based on not just is best for him, but for his followers as well. And as a demon, he has had to learn to be independent, hide or overcome his weaknesses, and take advantage of any possible opportunities regardless of how morally questionable some may find his choices. Without learning these, he may not have made it to adulthood.
To make up for his lack of traditional strength, Cole is very intelligent and observant. He knows how to take advantage of his environment in order to outwit or defeat his enemies, and when he can't make a situation work to his advantage. He has an above-average magic affinity, making up for his lack of physical strength, and has learned a wide range of magic to deal with various situations. His confidence in his skills and his maneuverability is enough that he isn't uncomfortable because of his small size anymore, and attempting to use that against him doesn't have any effect at all.
In part because he is a demon, Cole is a bit apathetic towards anyone that isn't one of his tribe, an ally, or under his care. All of the above he considers his property in a sense and disrespecting them is a way to rile him up if the individuals cannot stand up for themselves. Anyone else he expects to deal with their problems, tell someone who cares, or get on with their lives if they are wronged. The other reason for this is that his tribe is smaller than others and are outcasts with few allies. Looking out for his own is something that has always been a large part of his life and he expects others to figure out how to do the same because of this. Empathy for outsiders just isn't something that he's gained.
Underhanded isn't really a word for Cole. He take every advantage he can when presented to him, and will even take offered help well before he's even considered the possibility of paying the person back. He doesn't often readily offer help, but he sees little need to exploit or harm others unprovoked. He considers himself above that.
Both a strength and flaw of his is his pride in his duty. The desire to prove that he's a dependable alpha can lead him to become headstrong and hasty in judging others when his property is involved, especially when it concerns more exploitable members of his tribe. He will do anything for their well-being and will try for them even when it isn't in his best interests. It can bring things to the point where he isn't using his head and can get him into trouble.
Abilities
As stated above, Cole relies heavily on magic due to not being very strong physically in comparison to most demons. He has a variety of fire, binding, and dark magics at his disposal which can be used through incantation and silently.His favorite is a blue flame which he can breathe or conjure for various effects and that is his go-to for intimidation or fighting.
He wears a cloak that allows him to transform into a dragon-like demon, using magic that was created during the great war to let his ancestors fight dragons more equally. He can only transform while wearing it, but it allows him to fly, climb walls, and triples his size and his strength. He's still able to use his magic and speak but he does have a little more difficulty with the latter, especially with words he's unfamiliar with.
Cole's unusual eye color grants him excellent tracking abilities. He can follow trails left by individual living creatures by sight alone without getting confused, by following the traces of their life energy left on things they've been in contact with. Shoes and clothing make this less clear, but still doable as long as said items are enchanted to conceal telling auras.
